Dental Implants Orange

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed directly into the jawbone. It acts as an artificial tooth root, fusing with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration. Once the implant has fully integrated — typically over three to six months — a custom porcelain crown is fitted on top, creating a restoration that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.

Unlike a bridge, an implant does not rely on adjacent teeth for support. Unlike a denture, it does not move or require adhesives. For most patients, a dental implant is the most stable and durable way to replace a missing tooth long-term.

Who Is Suitable for Dental Implants?

Most healthy adults who are missing one or more teeth are suitable candidates. Good general health, adequate jawbone density, and healthy gum tissue are the key requirements. Patients with some bone loss may still be eligible — your dentist will assess this using digital X-rays or 3D imaging.

Dental implants can replace a single missing tooth, several individual missing teeth using separate implants, or an entire arch of teeth when supported by four to six implants. Patients currently wearing a partial or full denture may also be suitable for implant-supported alternatives. If you have lost most or all of your teeth, the All On 4 Orange page covers full-arch implant options in more detail.

The Dental Implant Process for Orange Patients

Implant treatment is typically completed across three to four appointments, allowing patients from Orange to plan their visits to Burwood efficiently.

Why Choose The Dental Practice?

Dr Samuel Gidaro established the Inner West Dental Implant Centre in 2004, co-located with The Dental Practice in Burwood. Dental implants are a primary clinical focus — not an incidental service. The clinic uses digital scanning, 3D imaging, and high-quality prosthetic materials for every case.

We are a fully accredited dental practice with strong professional affiliations and a record of treating patients from across NSW, including many from regional areas who travel to Burwood for implant care.

Dental Implant Frequently Asked Questions

The titanium implant post is designed to last a lifetime. The crown on top may need replacement after 10 to 15 years with normal wear.

Placement is performed under local anaesthetic. Most patients experience mild soreness for a few days after surgery, managed comfortably with standard pain relief.

In cases of severe dental disease, early release of superannuation may be available through the ATO on compassionate grounds. Our team can assist with the required documentation.

The first step towards ensuring dental bridges stand the test of time is practising good oral hygiene. This includes brushing regularly, flossing, using antibacterial mouthwash, and seeing your dentist for regular checkups. Keeping up with and monitoring oral health will ensure your dental bridges last for years to come. Additionally, it is advised to avoid chewing particularly hard or sticky foods using the prosthetic teeth.
