Dr Samuel Gidaro B.Sc (NSW), B.Dent (Syd), Grad.Dip.Clin.Dent. (Oral Implants)(Syd) Principal Dentist
Dr Samuel Gidaro graduated from the University of New South Wales in the field of Biotechnology in 2003, followed by a Bachelor of Dentistry at the University of Sydney in 2008. In addition to his qualifications, Dr Gidaro frequently attends courses to keep up to date with the ever-changing field of dentistry, whilst bringing fresh and new ideas to The Dental Practice. Dr Gidaro has a keen interest in restoring patient’s mouths to a healthy state for both function and aesthetics. He has completed evidence based programs from the University of Sydney which includes Oral Rehabilitation and holds the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry of Oral Implants. Dr Gidaro has been involved with dental implants since graduating. He worked closely along side Dr Willey, the previous practice principal providing our patients with the highest standard of care. Dr Gidaro has a keen interest in bone grafting and soft tissue regeneration and enjoys the challenge the challenging situations they bring. Dr Gidaro strives to make his patients comfortable and is no stranger to making those who struggle with dental treatment feel at ease. He is meticulous in his work and enjoys a balanced lifestyle with an interest in health and fitness, plenty of eating, and spending time with his family. Dr Gidaro is also bilingual in English and Italian.
Dr Aidan Tinney B.D.S (Dundee, UK) Associate Dentist
Dr Aidan Tinney graduated from the University of Dundee in Scotland in 2011. He completed his dental vocational training in Dumfries before ditching his welly boots and raincoat for thongs and a singlet. Dr Tinney worked in Perth as a Locum before being sponsored to work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Broken Hill. He covered the 3 states of NSW, SA and QLD, helping communities have access to dental care. His role included working with NSW health service providing treatment to patients on benefits, the Maari Ma aboriginal clinics, the prison service in Broken Hill and Ivanhoe and even flying to some patient’s homes. He also worked in local private practice on weekends to keep his skills up to date. After being in Australia for nearly two years, Dr Tinney travelled to South America to learn more on placing dental implants and watch the soccer World Cup in Brazil. He has since collaborated with Colombian patients who can’t afford dental treatment with a free new smile. Dr Tinney has been settled in Bondi since 2014 and joined the TDP family in early 2018. With a passion for learning and expanding his skills, he attends dental courses often to keep him at the forefront of modern dentistry. He can provide root canal therapy, wisdom teeth extractions, injectables and fillers, clear braces, dental implants and crowns. Dr Tinney enjoys playing squash, tennis and soccer on his days off. He also plays the saxophone and enjoys live music.
Dr Nidhi Berera B.D.S (Melbourne) Associate Dentist
Dr Nidhi Berera graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2001. She began her career working in a large private practice in Melbourne which focused on general dentistry. She practiced there for 5 years before moving to Sydney. Dr Berera joined the team at The Dental practice in early 2006. Dr Berera has a keen interest in Orthodontics and has completed further studies in this field in order to offer her patients a broader range of treatment. Being a general dentist, Dr Berera has found it easy to diagnose orthodontic problems in children early, as they come in for their regular preventative checks. This early diagnosis often leads to an easier course of orthodontics for children and teenagers. Having completed Invisalign training and lingual braces, Dr Berera can offer many aesthetic options to adults who tend to prefer these over traditional braces for aesthetic reasons. Dr Berera works closely with Dr Sam Gidaro and can provide many different alternatives to patients to help them achieve their ideal smile. She takes the time to engage with her patients in order to understand what is important to them, and then work with them to accomplish this goal. On her days off, Dr Berera enjoys spending time with her family and 2 young children. She also likes to maintain a healthy lifestyle and has a new found passion in triathlon competitions.
Oral Health Therapists
Judy Mikhail – Oral Health Therapist
Judy has been part of the team since 2002, making her one of our longest standing staff members. Always having an interest in the health field and helping people, Judy graduated from the University of QLD, Bachelor of Applied Health Science (Oral Health) in 2000. Judy has returned to the practice on a part time basis following the birth of her second child and is enjoying getting back to looking after our patients, especially those with implants. Judy has recently developed a love of baking and gardening, but her passion is spending quality family time with her husband, gorgeous little boy Isaac and the newest addition to the family, beautiful Ava.
Pascale Chung – Oral Health Therapist
From a young age, Pascale always had an interest in health, especially dentistry. In 2016, Pascale graduated from Charles Sturt University with a Bachelor of Oral Health and since then has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience including working in a mobile dental unit travelling around rural NSW and Victoria. Pascale has been a valued patient of the practice since she was a child so when she joined the team in early 2018, it was a very easy transition for us all! Pascale loves working with children and is well received with her bright and bubbly nature! Pascale loves spending time with family and has a passion for travel and experiencing new cultures.
Deborah Gilchrist – Practice Manager
Deborah has been with the practice for over 25 years and is the glue that keeps the practice together! After a 6 month stint working for Commonwealth Bank, Deborah decided the banking career was not for her and joined another local dentist before joining The Dental Practice as a junior Dental Assistant with very little experience. Deborah quickly decided that she has the capability and drive to run the practice and her journey began on working her way through all aspects of the business giving her the knowledge and understanding of the nuts and bolts of the practice. Deb is responsible for the overall successful organisation and running of the practice, ensuring that the standards of the practice are upheld. Responsible for the business administration and staffing of the practice, Deborah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her qualifications including Cert III in Dental Assisting, Diploma of Practice Management, Team Leadership, Diploma of Management and Certificate IV Human Resource Management. Outside of work, Deborah’s focus is on her family and being mum to her two beautiful daughters Zoe and Chelsea. She also loves to travel, having travelled to Europe twice before having a family. Now travel tends to be smaller family holidays.
Michelle Gordon – Business Development Manager and Patient Coordinator
Michelle joined the practice in 2013 after relocating from Edinburgh, Scotland bringing nearly 15 years of knowledge and experience in the dental industry. Michelle began dental nursing in a small general practice and completed her Dental Assisting Qualification in 2003. Always striving to learn more, she continued to work in various practices learning new skills and specialities of dentistry like implants, periodontal and oral surgery. As she gained experience, she climbed the ranks and eventually began practice management in 2007. Before her big move to Australia, Michelle took a career change and took on the role of Club Manager for a local Curves fitness centre. In this time Michelle went through vigorous customer service training and has adapted this training into the Dental Practice environment. Michelle oversees the smooth and efficient day to day running of the front desk, ensuring patients’ needs are met at all times. She strives to ensure our patients have a consistent point of contact in the practice and along with the rest of our fantastic team, is always happy to answer any questions, explain your treatment plan or discuss any concerns that you may have. Michelle is also enjoying the challenging yet rewarding new role of business development manager in which she oversees the creation and maintenance of our websites and other forms of advertising. In her spare time, Michelle is enjoying exploring what Australia has to offer – most of all the wine!
Hannah Merhi – Front Office Coordinator
Having been in the dental industry since 2006, Hannah joined The Dental Practice Team in 2009 as a dental assistant. In 2011, she took on the role of front office coordinator and has enjoyed working in a varied administrative role since. Hannah has a Diploma in Maths and Chemistry and has also completed her Cert III in Dental Assisting. In October 2013 Hannah celebrated the birth of her beautiful daughter Isabel and has since returned to work on a part time basis. When Hannah isn’t working, she enjoys sewing and crafts and of course spending lots of quality time with Izzy!
April Hind – Front Office Coordinator
April first started at The Dental Practice as a trainee dental assistant in 2002 where she developed her passion for health care. Keen to further her skills in assisting surgical procedures she moved on to working with an Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. After several more years of assisting, she returned to her second home at The Dental Practice as a Front Office Coordinator for a year before relocating to Melbourne. In early 2018 she returned to Sydney and resumed her previous role in the practice as a Front Office Coordinator. She will be working with us through to early 2019 before she embarks on a relocation to the USA. In her free time, she enjoys a wide range of music, binge watching Netflix shows, listening to podcasts, reading and travel. Having been away from Sydney for 8 years she would love to hear your suggestions for dining out!
Brittany Allen – Clinical Coordinator
Brittany joined our team during 2015, however, is almost like family, having been coming to the practice with her family since she was a child. Brittany has spent many years working in hospitality and after some work experience with us decided she needed career change. She has valuable customer service skills which she utilises on a daily basis in her role within the practice. In 2016, Brittany completed her Certificate III in Dental Assisting and is on track to commence her Certificate IV in 2017. She has recently taken on the role of Clinical Coordinator making her responsible for the meticulous planning of our implant and restorative treatments including stock ordering and treatment planning and is the go-to girl for the other dental assistants. As well as this, Brittany continues to assist in the dental surgery and works closely with Dr Gidaro. Brittany’s competitive side is brought out in the AFL season supporting the Sydney Swan’s. She enjoys all types of music, old and new, which she is very passionate about. Brittany always has time for her family and friends especially her three miniature dash hounds, JD, Pippa and Biscuit.
Kristine Dintignana – Dental Assistant
Kristine, who is better known as Kris relocated to Sydney in 2016 having grown up in Townsville, QLD. Already having an interest and base knowledge of dentistry through family members in the industry, Kris seen the opportunity to build a solid career in a role which would allow her to build on her existing skills and attributes. Kris is enjoying her varied role and can be found assisting Dr Turk, Dr Berera and our hygienists – making her a fantastic all-rounder! When not at work, Kris is a regular at the gym and is enjoying exploring Sydney and what it has to offer.
Emily-Kate Adams – Dental Assistant
Emily joined the team in April 2017 looking for a new career challenge. Having previously worked in McDonald’s, Emily has been able to continue her passion for customer service on a daily basis in her new role. You can find Emily working alongside our hygienists and Emily will be commencing her Certificate III in Dental Assisting in July 2017. Emily likes to keep active by playing OzTag, Basketball and going to the gym. She also loves socialising and is keen to travel the world.
